An electrocardiogram or EKG is a test that records the electrical activity of your heart through small electrode patches. With this test, your provider will be able to check your heart rhythm, your blood flow to your heart, and ensure your heart is working normally.

Jeff Alling, MD
FAMILY MEDICINE
Jeff Alling, MD, is a board-certified Family Medicine specialist. He graduated from Texas A&M College of Medicine in 1987. He completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, Texas Academy of Family Medicine, Texas Medical Association, and the Christian Medical Society.
Dr. Alling began practicing in Decatur in 1990 and was a founding member of the Wise County Medical and Surgical Association in 1996. He continues to enjoy practicing obstetrics and caring for entire families. He also serves as the Decatur Eagle team physician.
Dr. Alling resides in Decatur and married his wife, Natalie, in October 1988. He has four children: Nathan, Jonathan, Hannah, and Sarah. His hobbies and interests are his family and golfing.
Denise Casper, DO
FAMILY MEDICINE
Denise Casper, DO, is a family medicine physician with over 16 years of experience. Dr. Casper graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology before attending the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where she became a Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Casper is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
An extensive background in the field of medicine, ranging from treating newborns to geriatric patients, has well-prepared Dr. Casper for her current role at Wise County Medical and Surgical Association, where she sees patients aged 1 year and up. One of her favorite aspects of practicing medicine in Decatur is the ability to care for whole families and see generations of patients grow under her care.
Dr. Casper’s philosophy is to treat each patient with the same level of care and concern as if she were treating one of her own family members. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Casper enjoys traveling, camping, and cooking.
Charles Majka, MD
FAMILY MEDICINE
Charles Majka, MD, graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2009. He completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he became the Chief Resident.
Dr. Majka is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Pediatric Student Association, and the Family Medicine Student Association.
Before receiving his medical degree, Dr. Majka was employed with Wise County Medical Center, where he shadowed and assisted the leading Family Practitioner. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Majka enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, fishing, and water skiing.
Our Providers
Thomas Steffen, MD
FAMILY MEDICINE
Thomas Steffen, MD, brings over 40 years of experience in Family Medicine to the community. He served in the US Navy for over 40 years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and retired from the Naval Reserve in 2002. He is fluent in Spanish, enjoys flying his plane, and loves to travel.
Dr. Steffen attended the University of North Texas in Denton, earning his Bachelor’s degree, and continued to Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, to complete his Medical Degree. Upon completion of his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Dr. Steffen opened his solo practice in Decatur in 1976. He later joined the Wise County Medical and Surgical Association in 1996 to form a multi-specialty group practice.
With many years of medical outpatient practice, hospital patient care, and emergency room experience, Dr. Steffen brings a full range of medical care to his patients.
Megan DeLoera, PA-C
CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Megan DeLoera, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant with an extensive background in the field of medicine. She actually got her start in the field of medicine as an Emergency Medical Technician. Following this experience, she graduated with honors from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued her education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies. She is also a fellow member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Megan has an extensive background encompassing the treatment of newborns to geriatrics, preventative care, chronic disease management, urgent care, and more. Her philosophy is that effective medicine includes thoughtful integration of evidence-based practices in coordination with each patient’s distinct health goals and challenges. She achieves this by taking the time to listen to her patients so that she can provide them with optimal health care.
Travis Kyle, PA-C
CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Travis Kyle, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant with experience in Family and Sports Medicine. Travis began his career in medicine as a Physical Therapy Technician. While working, he completed his Bachelor of Science and Arts degree in Biology and Psychology. He continued his education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies.
Before joining Wise County Medical & Surgical, he built a patient following at Wise Health System Family and Sports Medicine in Decatur.
Travis is a Fellow Member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jena McBride, FNP-C
FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER
Jena McBride, FNP-C, is a certified family nurse practitioner with over 10 years of experience providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages. Jena is a North Texas native, completing her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing at Texas Woman’s University.
Jena has worked throughout North Texas as both a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner at Wise Health Clinics, Minute Clinic, and Texas Health Resources.
She is passionate about creating preventative health strategies and encouraging lifestyle modifications to enhance and improve her patients’ quality of life.
Laken Meadows, PA-C
CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Laken Meadows, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant with a vast background in the medical field. She began her career as a Patient Care Technician for a Medical-Surgical and Hospice Unit, a Medical Assistant for an OBGYN, and an Exercise Physiologist for Cardiac Rehabilitation. Born and raised on the East Coast, Laken attended West Virginia University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology along with a Master of Health Sciences. She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Alderson Broaddus University and is actively a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Laken began her career in Wise County practicing in family medicine and urgent care. She is committed to serving her local community with the highest level of quality care. She is passionate about practicing evidence-based medicine to improve patient outcomes, from infants to geriatrics, taking a compassionate approach. Laken is committed to treating the entire family and takes a compassionate approach to patient care.
Outside of the clinic, Laken enjoys spending time with her husband and family, being involved in the church, and reading; however, most of all she enjoys being outdoors with those she loves, whether it be on their family’s ranch or co-hosting her dad’s fly-fishing television show.
Alissa Sobieraj, PA-C
CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Alissa Sobieraj, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant with an extensive background in healthcare. She is a Wise County native, graduating from Bridgeport High School. She continued her education at Angelo State University and the University of North Texas. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree with a Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern Medical Center in 1994.
Alissa began her career at Wise County Medical and Surgical and has worked for local primary care providers, Expedian Urgent Care, and Wise Health Clinics. Alissa has the distinction of being the first Advanced Practitioner to have privileges at HCA Healthcare (formerly Decatur Community Hospital).
Alissa has two sons, Gage, a Life Scout currently finishing his Eagle Project, and Shane, who is interested in dirt bikes and learning how to do a cartwheel. They enjoy camping, swimming, and kayaking as a family.
